This beautiful home had plenty of space everywhere, except in the breakfast nook. It was cramped and dark with a low ceiling. Dark brick on one wall was overwhelming the small space, an un-insulated porch room blocked natural light, and a solid wall at the staircase closed it off from the rest of the home.
The porch was replaced with a 1 1/2-story addition which increased the space for the breakfast nook, the stair wall was opened up, and the brick was painted, making it a cheery space for children to do homework, and for family breakfasts and lunches.
