The powder room (or guest bath) is usually a small space, so making it nice shouldn’t be difficult. My mother’s advice, on the eve of my wedding, was, “No matter how busy you get, or how poor you might be, always keep the bathroom spotlessly clean, and as pretty as possible. It’s the only room in the house where you can’t distract your guests with witty conversation.” Words I live by, and keep in mind when I’m re-designing a powder room.
